Kuyper Celebrates Its Annual Spring Celebration Gala
On a warm April evening, Kuyper College celebrated its Annual Spring Celebration Gala at Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park. The event brought together students, alumni, faculty and friends to reflect on the year’s theme: Jesus Christ: Our Firm Foundation.
The evening served as both a celebration and a call to continue Kuyper’s mission of equipping students for lives of Christian service—by laying foundations rooted in faith, learning and community.
A highlight of the gala was the presentation of the Kuyper College Service Award to longtime supporters Larry and Judy Fredricks. The couple, honored for their unwavering generosity and spiritual guidance, has played a foundational role in shaping the Kuyper community for decades.
“Larry and Judy have modeled a life of quiet, consistent service,” said Kuyper College President Patricia Harris. “Their love for our students and their commitment to Christ-centered education is woven into the fabric of this college.”
As he accepted the award, Larry offered brief remarks, including a simple yet profound piece of advice: “Everyone should have a study Bible.”
The night’s keynote address was delivered by Dr. Dan Kroeze, Professor of Biblical Studies and a respected voice in Kuyper’s theological community. Speaking directly to the evening’s theme, he invited attendees to consider the deeper purpose behind their presence in the Kuyper story.
“Who are you? What are you doing here?” Kroeze asked, pausing as his words settled over the crowd.
He encouraged listeners to reflect on their identity in Christ and the call to build lives anchored in eternal truth. “I’m grateful to be able to share with you tonight about who we are at Kuyper College and what we’re here to do,” he said.
The evening concluded with worship music led by Kuyper students, desserts from local vendors and lively conversation under patio lights and budding spring trees.
As guests lingered, the theme of building a firm foundation resonated in every detail—from the stories shared to the relationships honored. Kuyper’s community left with renewed gratitude for the foundation that has been laid and a shared commitment to continue building faithfully, one life at a time.
